Photos... Not Spiders

Been real bad about putting up photos. Well, there's that whole spider thing. But I'm hard pressed not to post photos of spiders... So, here's a post chock-full of photos. Some of them are even relevant.

Let me start by saying I finally got the pile of photos on my desk scanned. Actually, I cleaned my desk for the first time in four years. Yes, that's how long we've been in the house. And I found a pile of photos that I'd been meaning to scan -- some of them for that entire time. These were in the pile. They're from our fantastic trip to Gatlinburg last year. I told y'all that C and I went on a ski-lift to look at the city -- twice. Yes, I am gripping the bar for dear life.

We did some serious traveling this summer. It started with the little brother coming by and us taking a trip to see the family in Florida -- photos, remarkably, posted. :) Then, C and I went to Southeast Linux Fest. As ever, it was an awesome. Lots of great interaction, but even better food. Here is an example.

On the way to Ohio, I used my phone to take photos of rainbows. They turned out pretty good -- I've been frustrated with the camera.

This was in Ohio, too, though it might be a subdivision in Heaven. Seriously.

And just in case you don't know where ham is from...

Mom and Dad had a semi-tame white bunny in their back yard.

And a very not-tame peahen.

After weeks, the peahen finally meandered into the garage and we were able to get her back to her farm -- and her peacock. He had been pining for her. She had been spending evenings screaming for him. It was loud and I guess sort of romantic.

Speedy went with me. She was terrified of the ice cream stand, so Mom held her.

The parents have a fancy new camera which took these:

Gave me horrible camera envy. I went back to using my phone. Mama Dixie and I ate at Flip Burger Boutique. We walked in and ragged on the over-the-top snootyness of the place. It looks like a set for the Jetsons. Then, we ate the food and shut the hell up. Tasty. The burgers look small, but they aren't. That's a nutella and marshmallow shake and a strawberry short shake. Later in the summer -- last week, actually -- I took C there. He had a creme brule shake. Wow.

Can't help it. This is where Rose has been sleeping.

We've been looking at new cameras. Not real thrilled with the results we were getting with the older cameras. The first digital we had took really great photos. But the next two? So bad that my phone camera was better. So, C ordered me a new one! It's not as fancy as my parents', but theirs is so big -- I'd never tote it around. So, it's a compact. Here's the first photo off of it. Pippin is not amused.

This is outside. At night. :)

And, because there aren't enough photos here, here are some more scans...

This is my dad's dad and his family.

And here's Dad.

To be fair, this is Mom.

They (Mom and Dad) will be here this week. And I head back to work on Thursday.

  1. Great pics! I now have phone envy! I love Rose. She looks like a fox! (that sounded wrong. I mean, she looks fox-y. Whoah. That also sounds wrong. I mean she looks foxish. Safe.)
